In Poland over 3 million households rely on private wells. Unlike mains supplies, the quality of well water is not monitored by any authority. Contamination can be invisible, colourless and odourless, and still be harmful to health.
Testing is carried out by the GBA Polska laboratory, accredited by the PCA under no. AB 1467. The methods comply with PN-EN ISO standards and the Ministry of Health regulation on water quality.

Yes. The GBA Polska laboratory holds PCA accreditation (no. AB 1467) — the results are recognised by the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station (Sanepid), the district sanitary inspectorates and sanitary supervisory authorities throughout Poland. The report can serve as the basis for official confirmation that the water is fit to drink.
It depends on what has been exceeded. Coliform bacteria — the well needs disinfecting (chlorination or UV). Iron or manganese — an iron removal filter is required. Hardness — an EcoWater ion exchange softener. Nitrates — reverse osmosis. Once MICHLOR has the results, we prepare individual recommendations and a quote for the appropriate equipment.
We carry out a preliminary test of hardness and indicative physicochemical parameters free of charge as part of choosing an EcoWater softener. A full laboratory test with a PCA report is a paid service — we quote prices on request, depending on the range of parameters.

How much does well water testing cost?
The scope and price depend on what you want to check: a basic physicochemical package, a package including bacteriology, or a full analysis. We give you a quote once you get in touch, and the technician's call-out is free in Warsaw and the surrounding area.
How often should well water be tested?
Once a year is recommended, and additionally after any flooding, well refurbishment, or whenever the taste, colour or smell of the water changes.
How is the sample collected?
It is best if our technician collects the sample. Incorrect sampling — a dirty container, say, or failing to run the water off first — will distort the bacteriological result and the test will have to be repeated.
What to do with the result
If the test shows elevated iron or manganese, we will select
a filter or treatment station. Where hardness is high, the answer is
a water softener, and where there is bacteriological contamination
